Description
Albendazole is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic used for susceptible helminth infections; widely used internationally for intestinal helminths such as ascariasis, hookworm, whipworm, pinworm, and taeniasis.
For routine intestinal helminths, the common protocol is: Albendazole 400 mg PO once, except:
- Pinworm: repeat dose after 2 weeks.
- Whipworm: 400 mg daily x 3 days.
- Taeniasis: 400 mg daily x 3 days.
- Hydatid disease / neurocysticercosis: prolonged, weight-based, monitored, specialist-managed therapy.
For your professional use, treat Albendazol as a diagnosis-specific antihelminthic, not a blanket antiparasitic.
